ऋचाओं के क्रमबद्ध ज्ञान के संग्रह को ऋग्वेद कहते हैं।
The systematic collection of hymns (Richas) is called the Rigveda. ऋग्वेद सबसे पुराना वेद है।
The Rigveda is the oldest of all the Vedas. इसमें 10 मंडल, 1028 सूक्त (वालखिल्य पाठ के 11 सूक्त) एवं 10,462 ऋचाएँ (मंत्र) हैं।
It contains 10 Mandalas, 1028 Suktas (including 11 Valakhilya Suktas), and 10,462 Richas (mantras). हालांकि मंत्रों/ऋचाओं की संख्या के बारे में विद्वानों में मतभेद है।
However, scholars differ on the exact number of mantras/Richas. इस वेद के ऋचाओं को पढ़ने वाले पुरोहित को होत्र कहा जाता है।
The priest who recites the Rigveda mantras is known as a Hotri. विष्वामित्र द्वारा रचित ऋग्वेद के तीसरे मंडल में सूर्य देवता सावित्री (सवितृ) को समर्पित प्रसिद्ध गायत्री मंत्र है।
The famous Gayatri Mantra, composed by Vishwamitra, is found in the third Mandala of the Rigveda and is dedicated to the solar deity Savitri (Savitr). इसके 9वें मंडल में देवता सोम का उल्लेख है।
