Online Application for Admission to Class VI (2026–27)

Schools like Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs), Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs), state government schools, and private CBSE/ICSE institutions have now streamlined their admission process through online application portals.

Who Can Apply? – Eligibility Criteria

Before you begin the application, ensure that your child fulfills the following conditions:

🔹 Age Criteria:

  • The student must be born between 1st May 2014 and 30th April 2016 (both dates inclusive).
  • Age must be between 10 and 12 years as on 1st May 2026.

🔹 Educational Qualification:

  • The applicant should be currently studying in Class V in the 2025–26 academic session in a government-recognized school.
  • For Navodaya Vidyalaya, the child must be from the same district where admission is sought.

🔹 Other Criteria:

  • No repeaters: Students who have already passed Class V in previous years are not eligible.
  • Rural Quota (for JNVs): At least 75% of the seats are reserved for candidates from rural areas.
  • Reservation: SC/ST/OBC/Divyang categories receive reservation as per government norms.

For JNVs:

  • Entrance exam known as JNV Selection Test (JNVST).
  • It consists of questions on Mental Ability, Arithmetic, and Language.
  • Exam is conducted in regional languages.
  • Based on merit, reservation policy, and district-wise seat availability.

For KVs:

  • Priority-based admissions for central government employees, armed forces, and others.
  • No entrance exam for Class VI.
  • Admission based on category priority and seat availability.

For Other Schools:

  • Entrance test, interview, or merit-based criteria as per school policy.
